basically my cousin needs to find an english course! she speaks it like she knows most e basic terms & whatnot, & probably can hold a convo, but grammar & vocabwise is weak. etc etc. basically she wants to go on a crash course to well, finetune & improve and all.
point is, I CANT FIND ANY!!
except the british council one which is quite ... expensive. quite. so hm if any of you happen to know or see any centres who have like full-time eng courses or something PLEASE TELL ME!!

i really hate it when people exercise authority in that manner.
i mean like teachers, saying you did well in a certain essay, & reading it out for the whole class. its okay if you're the kind who doesn't mind that, but unfortunately, i do.
i absolute detest teachers reading out things i wrote, making me read out the things i write, or sticking it up on some place for all to see or photocopying it & including in the bunch of GOOD EXAM ESSAYS to pass around for some freaking reason i dont understand . (not that it happens much. in fact, it's never happened @ all. except ONCE.)
not that i write about personal private things, i dont think anybody does. but e fact is when i write something meant for an assignment or an exam, i write it merely for that purpose. its only for the marker, to give a mark, then i take it back & either trash it or file it. if people want to see, they ask, & then i won't mind. as i said, they're not secrets or gossiping. but cant teachers have e courtesy to ask?!
no, obviously not. just because we're students too poor to copyright our writings does not give them any permission to take & act as if its theirs to photocopy & whatnot. & if a student does not want to read out her essay, JUST LET IT BE, GAWDDAMMIT. you do not OWN the students, nor do you OWN the essays, OR the rights of them, thus you have absolutely no permission to make people do things they dont want to.
just some random thoughts. unfortunately this is how things will go as time goes on, & any efforts to stop this is futile. dargh. why do i even bother. just offering my condolences to all those who feel the same.
on the other hand, i'm attempting to finish reading lord of the rings!! & its actually not bad, i like the ents greatly. they have such funky names. oh yeah talking about trees, this farm in limchukang called bollywood poison ivy is TEH ROCK. seriously. just loads & loads of wondrous plants, e owner is lurvely (she's called ivy, hence e name) & e place is so entirely unindustrialized it truly is wonderful. & the best part of the whole thing is, ivy lets weeds & wild grasses grow everywhere!! wootz! |

yay i finally finished the whole saga of darren shan series!! took me eons finding the last two books until yesterday, when i was arranging & straightening the youth fiction section in the bukit batok com library (which, btw, is so tiny it takes up ONE shelf) i saw them, 11 & 12, was like AAAAAHHHH thats so dang kool.
well the endings pretty good, everyone died and darren travels through time to change stuff. rather kool, if you ask me.
which got me realising that i dont like to read anymore. @ all. i mean i read trashy books like darren shan's vampire stories, the occasional michael crichton for the thrills, dan brown kuz he ABSOLUTELY RAWKS, but i think thats it of actual novels i read. in fact the only books of decent thickness i read nowadays are christian ones, and i do that for research. gah, and i wonder why i suck @ english.
seriously though. i lose interest in books from the first page onwards. dargh.
does anyone know how to get to bras basah complex from bukit batok?

blargh needa be @ church @ 6 to meet up w the rest of the newsletter committee. i think i spelt that wrong. dargh, whatever. shant care. & kuz i haven't thought of an article yet, i'll go off to mcdonald's @ 4 and do quiet time there. which is really good, by the way. i cant do quiet time @ home unless its after midnight, but then after midnight im normally watching tv. tut tut.
oh yeah, i finally finished my essay on salvation!! kudos to me. & i got inspiration from rock-climbing last time, when i was thinking what would have happened to me if charissa/lynette hadnt been belaying. then i was thinking how i almost killed lynette/charissa while belaying for them. and then i got the idea of putting this gigantum analogy of Jesus being our belayer! i am so amused. it was such a far stretch of the imagination, really.
shit, im starting to like rainbow connection.
i heard the ridiculous SHE thing is starting to show today, kuz 王子变青蛙 finished yesterday? sigh. another taiwanese idol drama that i won't like.
& ppl outside are cutting grass.
I HATE THE SOUND OF CUTTING GRASS.
i hate overloud sounds, in general, except rock muzik from my mp3 or something. things i voluntarily blast.
even construction sites sound better than the cutting grass sound. & smell.

erm, if you're a very strong atheist or is strongly against christianity,i wouldnt actually suggest you read this blog. might have some stuff you find insulting or something.
WOW so im pretty much in an absolutely wondrous mood.
i went to popular and guess what i saw, the book version of 紫禁之巅 AND 米伽乐之舞!! they cost like $16 and $20 each so i'll VERY slowly save up. or someone could give it to me as a birthday present, of course.
well other than that, have a favour to ask of you people, if you happen to go to a christian book shop and see this book: the case for faith by lee strobel, please tell me where you found it so i can buy it! i borrowed it from jurong east regional library and it really really rocks the rock. so yep. tell me if you find it. but dont dont dont buy it for me kuz itll cost a bomb. not that anyone WILL buy it for me. but just in case!
so the book's great. & chanyi/claire if you see this it REALLY clears up the doubts we talked about on the road! like:
' if there is a God in this world, why is there so much pain & suffering? '
answer - if there is NO God in this world, how come there's so much more joy & comfort than pain & suffering in this world?
i liked that. & basically the book covers these topics:
1) since evil & suffering exist, a loving God cannot.
2) since miracles contradict science, they cannot be true.
3) evolution explains life, so God isn't needed.
4) God isnt worthy of worship if He kills innocent children.
5) its offensive to claim Jesus is the only way to God.
6) a loving God would never torture people in hell.
7) church history is littered w oppression & violence.
8) i still have doubts, so i can't be a christian.
dargh it rocks. the whole thing. like how it attacks all these sceptic's comments by giving SCIENTIFIC & INTELLECTUAL reasoning not just stuff like GOD IS SMARTER THAN US, HAVE FAITH IN HIM, KUZ THE BIBLE SAYS SO, DOOFUS.
like one of the arguments why evolution is bullshit.
things, have to evolve FROM something, right? if not it'll be called CREATION. so yes. [stupid darwin and his stupid theory. no offence or anything.] so basically this thing would have to come from the things present on earth @ that time. which means living things have to be somehow created out of non-living things.
this dude, miller, did an experiment on that. he 'recreated' the atmosphere of primitive earth, using methane, ammonia & hydrogen, then letting electricity [simulating effects of lightning] through it, thus creating amino acids which ARE living things. @ that time, it was major breakthrough to prove that living things CAN be created by chemical elements in our atmosphere. he was apparently almost given a nobel award.
however in 1980, NASA scientists showed that primitive earth never had any methane, ammonia or hydrogen. what it DID have, however, were inert & unreactive gases like carbon dioxide & nitrogen, as well as water. thus the theory was rubbish & evolution has no basis.
so ppl started having OTHER theories on how evolution started.
#1, random chance. which means the chemicals were mixed around for a LONG time to create protein. but four billion years is not enough for that to happen. & even if it did happen, if you took the entire universe's carbon and put it on the face of the earth, allowed it to chemically react @ the most rapid rate possible, left it for a billion years, odds of creating ONE functional protein molecule is one in 10 with 60 zeroes after it.
#2, that amino acids will spontaneously link up in e right sequence to create e protein molecules out of which living cells are made. this was proven wrong because sequencing has nothing to do with chemical preferences.
#3, seeding from space. if this is TRUE, then the scientists STILL havent solved the question, because the same thing would have happened elsewhere and they need to figure THAT out!
#4, oceans vents. oceans have warm waters to sustain life, but they are unable to sequence chemicals to make life. water does not happen to be particularly reactive in this case.
theres a lot more scientific stuff. isnt it kool like they use science to explain how God exists. & how other scientific theories are crap.

fangirl entry today.
am watching the awards thingum on tv right now and am in an absolutely wonderful mood, kuz guess what FIR and ENERGY are there!! yep which is pretty dang kool. all they need to do is add LINKIN PARK and i'll start kowtowing in awe. anyway congratulations to nicholas zhang he absolutely deserves the best new act prize! i've only watched up to there. smiles.
today was entirely uneventful. went to the library and its all settled i'm gonna be 'servicing' there 2 times a week, 3 hours each time. which is like WOW. thought i'd do it to waste my time constructively. then went for guzheng. todays lesson was great, only 3 ppl so i actually got some decent coaching. and i'm starting to like the guzheng greatly! wootz. except it does kill the left hand skin.
so i conclude another one of my useless lj entries. anyways. since i'm bored, i'll do a commentary on the awards ceremony. which IS rather useless considering the straits time will do a much better of it tomorrow. so nevermind. shant waste my time.
OMGAWSH FIR WON THE MOST POPULAR GROUP AWARD!
well duh. but STILL!!!! faye is awful quiet today. and she looks rather solemn. hmph. & they're performing qian-nian-zhi-lian!! aaaaaah faye's voice has matured. by a LOT. and ian & real are awesomely kool just as usual. did i mention how much i love synthesizers? they're absolutely wondrous.

i'm considering treating everybody to something. its so sad that milk wasnt there with ady and shuwei and kunda. i forgot the english names i think its something like joe & penny. PENNY. hmph.
i cant believe groups like twins & she are actually shortlisted for best group award. its rather insulting.
oh mayday won best band. amusing. OOOOH I LIKE THE JESSICA ALBA TIGER BEER AD. its funny, in a way. if only jj would win something and sing jianjiandandan. i've got that song stuck in my head.
heck i cant stand cyndi wang. urgh. blech. ENERGY WON ANOTHER FREAKING AWARD!! they're singing wo-men. bad choice but sigh. its so sweet. i like i like ying-zai-fei. old but nice.
my mum is being very annoying. she always likes to talk about how she probably has like every disease, sickness and cancer available in the world. it seriously pisses me off. and a couple months ago she was talking about her death. hmph.
JJ WON best male artiste! my mum is now complaining about how she doesnt know a single one of these people i'm going all hyper over. amusing. oh stef sun won best female artiste. surprised i pretend to be. my mum rolls her eyes. (stefanie sun's the only one she knows) and she's won the award FIVE TIMES, wow.
okay i'll stop commentating & stuff. will concentrate on the awards. sorry for fangirling. |
